SUMMARY:Horizon: Event & Wedding Mentorship with Rachel Gray (Hybrid Learning)
DESCRIPTION:Hybrid Learning\nHorizon is an eight-month\, industry-focused photography mentorship program at the Los Angeles Center of Photography designed to help emerging photographers build high-end portfolios\, gain real-world experience\, and confidently transition into professional\, client-facing careers.\n\n&nbsp\;\nEvent &amp\; Wedding with Rachel Gray\nThe Event &amp\; Wedding track focuses on storytelling\, adaptability\, and the ability to perform under real-world conditions. Designed for photographers working in fast-paced\, client-driven environments\, this track emphasizes anticipating moments\, managing timelines\, and delivering consistent results under pressure. Participants work closely with a mentor to refine documentary-style coverage\, client communication\, and day-of logistics—from contracts and shot lists to managing expectations on site. Through assignments\, critiques\, and optional shadow opportunities\, photographers strengthen their narrative approach while learning professional workflows that support reliability\, efficiency\, and long-term client relationships.\nIncluded with Tuition\n\n 	Two\, two-hour online sessions per month\n 	One\, three-hour in-person session per month (locations TBD)\n 	One private one-on-on session with instructor once every other month (approximately 20 minutes in duration)\n 	Final student portfolio showcase event @ LACP\n\nThe first session for this track is scheduled online (virtually) for Tuesday\, September 15th\, 10 am - 12 pm PST.  All subsequent sessions will be scheduled by the Rachel and the group.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nRachel Gray is a Malibu-based photographer specializing in weddings and events. She holds a BFA in Photography from the University of Washington and brings over 15 years of experience in dynamic\, client-facing environments. Her work is rooted in connection—capturing honest\, unscripted moments and transforming them into lasting\, archival images. Known for her calm and intuitive presence\, she creates space for people to feel at ease\, allowing genuine emotion to unfold naturally. As one client shared\, “Rachel’s intention to conjure vulnerability without imposition is her true talent.”\n\nRachel spent nearly a decade at Netflix and NBCUniversal working in production and production strategy\, where she also contributed to sustainability initiatives across large-scale productions. This experience informs her ability to navigate complex\, high-pressure environments while balancing logistics\, creativity\, and a thoughtful approach to building a sustainable career.\n\nAs both a photographer and observer of life\, Rachel is deeply attuned to human connection and the nuances of presence. As an instructor\, she focuses on bridging artistry with real-world application—teaching photographers how to anticipate moments\, navigate fast-paced environments\, and build client-centered practices.
