About the Exhibition
We are pleased to announce LACP’s Sixth Annual “The Creative Portrait” Exhibition! This juried exhibition will be shown at the Los Angeles Center of Photography, October 25 – November 30, 2021. An opening night reception is scheduled for Monday, October 25, 7-10 pm PST. The theme is “Creative Portraits” and the juror, Aline Smithson, will select images based on creativity, originality, and quality.
What defines a creative portrait?
It’s a portrait that transcends the norm through concept, process, or creativity. For this exhibition, we are not looking for typical portrait capture, but instead something that stretches beyond the classic–a portrait that challenges the viewer to look deeper. A truly creative portrait comes from a particular relationship between both subject and the photographer, with an end result that is not an image that simply breaks the rules, it’s an engaging photograph that both captures the essence of the subject and compels the viewer to stop and take notice.
1st Place winner will receive $500; 2nd Place winner will receive $300; 3rd Place winner will receive $200.
Honorable Mentions will be awarded as well.
