*As of right now, we are planning to have the exhibition either in Summer or Fall, but if not we will have the exhibition virtually on our website and post images on our social media, and have artist talks live via FB/Instagram or another platform.
About the Exhibit
We are pleased to announce LACP’s Fifth Annual “The Creative Portrait” Exhibition! The exhibition will run from TBA, pending the pandemic situation, with opening night reception scheduled for TBA. The theme is Creative Portraits and the juror, Paul Kopeikin, will select images based on creativity, originality, and quality. The work will be shown in our brand new Culver City Gallery and 1st Prize is a $500 LACP gift certificate!
What is a Creative Portrait?
A creative portrait can be commercial, fine art or documentary. Unique or edgy portraits are encouraged. Portraits can consist of animals or pets, but not works of art. Typical actor headshots do not apply as Creative Portraits.
1st Prize Winner will receive $500 LACP gift certificate.
Honorable mentions will be recognized as well.
Paul Kopeikin (https://www.kopeikingallery.com/) has owned his eponymous Gallery in Lo Angeles since 1991 and has produced over three hundred exhibitions, primarily of photography. He has shown the masters of the medium as well as contemporary artists using the photographic medium. He has participated in numerous international art fairs and regularly judges art related competitions and reviews. He is known for his unvarnished opinions and sarcastic wit.
Eligibility and Guidelines
LACP calls for entry are open to all photographers, worldwide. We invite photographers working in all photographic mediums, digital, film, mixed and unique processes to participate.
The deadline to send digital files for consideration is TBA, pending the pandemic situation. There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted.
The selection process will be judged anonymously. Once the juror has made selections, all entrants will receive an email from LACP with a list of images and artists selected for the show. The selected images and artists’ names will also be posted on LACP’s website.
LACP is not responsible for connecting the selected artists with the juror. In addition, LACP reserves the right not to use a particular selected image(s) for promotional purposes if the image(s) is deemed inappropriate for use on LACP’s social media, newsletter feed, and/or on in any other marketing material.
There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted. If submitting more than 25 images, please repeat the payment process as necessary.
$50 for 1-5 images ($25.00 for LACP Members)
$75 for 6-10 images ($37.50 for LACP Members)
$100 for 11-15 images ($50.00 for LACP Members)
$125 for 16-20 images ($62.50 for LACP Members)
$150 for 21-25 images ($75.00 for LACP Members)

Liability and Agreement
Each photographer retains all copyrights to his or her images. Photographers whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant the Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) the right to use their images for display on LACP’s website and for the purpose of promoting exhibitions, promoting LACP’s programs, and promoting the artist. Promotions and images may also be placed on social networks for LACP with artist credit. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact from LACP. The artist understands that LACP will not be held responsible for loss, theft or other damage, whether caused by the negligence of its officers, members, or others. Photographers are welcome to sell their photos at the exhibit, with 50 percent commission to LACP. Submission of application will constitute an agreement to all these terms and conditions.
All images accepted for exhibition must be printed and framed professionally, wired on the back with eyelets, and labeled on the back of the frame with your name, image title, and contact information (email and phone). Please mount wire and eyelets about 1/4 down from top of frame. There are no specifications on printing and/or framing. Further, there are no size restrictions. Exhibiting photographers will be expected to either drop off their prints or pay for round-trip shipping of their work. You will be required to send us a prepaid express mail label for the return of your artwork. We take no responsibility for damage during shipping, so we suggest that your insure the work during mailing.
Framed prints for exhibition must arrive by TBA, pending the pandemic situation. Please deliver or mail prints to Los Angeles Center of Photography, 5566 W. Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016. (Please deliver them with protective wrapping.)
