About the Exhibit

We are pleased to announce LACP’s Fifth Annual Fine Art Exhibition! The exhibit will show online/virtually and will run from October 22 – December 31, 2020. The juror and curator, Susan Spiritus, will select between 25-30 images based on creativity, originality, and quality. There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted.

There will be a virtual reception on Saturday, November 14, 4 pm PST, 2020. The juror, Dhynadra Lawson, will talk about each image that was selected. A public event, all artists chosen for the virtual exhibition will be invited and receive extensive social media coverage.

Prizes

1st prize winner receive a $500 cash prize and invited to say a few words/remarks during the virtual opening. Honorable mentions will receive a one year Membership to LACP.($95 value).

The Juror

Dhyandra Lawson, Curatorial Asst., Department of Photography, LA County Museum of Art, Los Angeles, CA

Dhyandra Lawson joined LACMA’s Wallis Annenberg Photography Department in 2012. She was co-curator of “Richard Prince: Untitled (cowboy)” (December 2017—March 2018), and was curator of the “The Magic Medium” presented at LACMA in 2016. Other projects have included “Robert Mapplethorpe: The Perfect Medium” co-presented by LACMA and the J. Paul Getty Museum in 2016, as well as, “Larry Sultan: Here and Home” organized by LACMA in 2015. Current work focuses on building upon LACMA’s collection of over 20,000 photographs.

Eligibility and Guidelines

LACP calls for entry are open to all photographers, worldwide. We invite photographers working in all photographic mediums, digital, film, mixed and unique processes to participate. The deadline to send digital files for consideration is Monday, September 21, 12 midnight PST, 2020. There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted.

Acceptance Notice

The selection process will be judged anonymously. Once the juror has made selections, all entrants will receive an email from LACP with a list of images and artists selected for the show. The selected images and artists’ names will also be posted on LACP’s website.

LACP is not responsible for connecting the selected artists with the juror. In addition, LACP reserves the right not to use a particular selected image(s) for promotional purposes if the image(s) is deemed inappropriate for use on LACP’s social media, newsletter feed, and/or on in any other marketing material.

Entry Fee

There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted. If submitting more than 10 images, please repeat the payment process as necessary.

$50 for 1-5 images ($25.00 for LACP Members)
$75 for 6-10 images ($37.50 for LACP Members)
$100 for 11-15 images ($50.00 for LACP Members)
$125 for 16-20 images ($62.50 for LACP Members)
$150 for 21-25 images ($75.00 for LACP Members)
$175 for 26-30 images ($87.50 for LACP Members)
$200 for 31-40 images ($100.00 for LACP Members)
$250 for 41-50 images ($125.00 for LACP Members)

Liability and Agreement

Each photographer retains all copyrights to his or her images. Photographers whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant the Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) the right to use their images for display on LACP’s website and for the purpose of promoting exhibitions, promoting LACP’s programs, and promoting the artist. Promotions and images may also be placed on social networks for LACP with artist credit. Artists grant the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact from LACP. Submission of application will constitute an agreement to all these terms and conditions.
