About the Exhibit

LGBTQIA+ life and experience are constantly contested, negated and marginalized within public discourse. As Gilbert Baker, who created the pride flag as a symbol of hope in 1978, once said, “When all else fails, art is the ultimate weapon.” With this in mind, this virtual exhibition will explore intimate, private portraits of closeness, affection and camaraderie as sites of strength and vulnerability, making space for a more complex, nuanced human experience and interaction.

Open internationally for lens-based creatives, this call invites submissions of portraits of and by LGBTQIA+ photographers, capturing a sincere and fluid approach to representation and intimate projects of closeness.

There is no limit to the amount of images which can be submitted.

Prizes

Three prize winners: 1st Place receives $1,000 cash; 2nd Place receives a $350 gift card; 3rd Place receives a $200 gift card plus a one-year Membership to LACP (or renewal of existing Membership).

Honorable mentions will be recognized as well.
