Gallerists and Dealers: What You Need to Do to Impress Them or How to Make it Without Them with Sasha Wolf (Webinar)

  • October 9, 2021
    10:00 am - 11:30 am

In this webinar, art dealer Sasha Wolf will discuss what art dealers look for before signing an artist for representation. Although different dealers focus on different attributes there are many commonalities and they are all achievable, assuming the desire and talent is there. Sasha will drill down on the must haves: a mature body ( or bodies) of work, networking skills and professionalism. Conversely, there are many artists today making it on their own, eschewing the gallery route altogether, and Sasha will discuss some of the photographers who have blazed their own path and how they’ve managed to achieve success without the traditional artist/gallery relationship.

Sasha Wolf, director of Sasha Wolf Projects, established in 2007, represents emerging and mid-career, fine art photographers. Sasha reviews or judges work for leading art institutions and fairs numerous times a year and conducts artist’s workshops around the country on professional practices and working with galleries. Sasha’s book, PhotoWork; Forty Photographers on Process and Practice, first published by Aperture in the Fall of 2019, is already in its third printing. Her popular Podcast of the same name, PhotoWork, is available on all streaming platforms.
