Owning a Canon image Prograf Pro Series Printer affords one the unique ability to take control over your Media Type Files and customize them for more streamlined printing workflow. ?The core of the Canon Media Configuration Tool is the AM1X file which is a proprietary Canon file containing Media Type and ICC profile information. ?Mastering this program will allow you to do the following:
1. Load generic AM1X files from the major inkjet paper manufacturers’ websites on to your printer
2. Rename media files to recognizable paper names, eliminating confusion when choosing paper types
3. Attach ICC color profiles to the Media Type files allowing you to create custom AM1X files that will automatically load your color profiles when using Canon Professional Print & Layout or Print Studio Pro
4. Program certain mechanical instructions for printing in to your custom AM1X files such as whether or not to automatically cut paper when printing on rolls and adjusting ink load, vacuum strength, and print head height.
The Canon MCT is not an easy program to master as it is a bit clunky and chunky but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be glad you did. I personally can’t live without this program.
(This class will be performed on an Apple computer running Mac OS Ventura. The basic operation of the program is the same for Windows machines although there are some slight differences.)
Class size is unlimited.
