Photography NFTs: Finding Your Audience with Rainer Hosch (Webinar)
-
June 17, 2023
10:00 am - 11:30 am
In his debut webinar, Rainer Hosch takes a deep dive into the community of NFT collectors with an emphasis on how photographers can expand their practice onto the blockchain. Rainer presents insights from the perspective of both a photographer and a collector.
Aiming to demystify the “community” that is so often referenced when speaking about the metaverse, Hosch explores the nuances of Discord and Twitter.
• Using Twitter and Discord as building blocks to establishing your presence on the blockchain and communicating with fellow artists and collectors
• Developing a narrative for the project and presenting a clear path of how it will be dropped
• Creation of a utility as a possible engagement tool
• Understanding editioning and pricing
• Fostering engagement prior to the launch
• How to build an organic following
• The sale is the beginning of the relationship with collectors and with fellow artists
Using his own NFT projects as a case study, Hosch reflects on his genesis collection which has reached over 900 individual collectors and the total volume of sales is over 116 Etherium in just six months. It was launched via “riddle drop” and is considered a guiding example of community engagement via Twitter and Discord. The follow-up collection “207faces of Iggy” has dropped recently via an NFT “burn event” that turned 1660 NFTs into a new collection of 166 1/1s.
Rainer Hosch For over three decades, Rainer Hosch, aka “The Man with the Camera,” has captured the faces of luminaries in entertainment, music, fashion, business, athletics, and art. He maintains a fine art photography practice with a focus on street reportage, landscapes, and ring flash portraits. His client work has appeared in many international publications and campaigns including The Hollywood Reporter, The New York Times Magazine, L’Uomo Vogue, Esquire, Red Bull, Nike, Sony, and Nespresso among many others. `
In 2022 Hosch created his Genesis NFT collection titled “52icons,” a series dedicated to his late father, Heinz, a renowned photojournalist. Launched on his 52nd birthday, the same age as his father’s untimely death, Hosch curated 52 of the most iconic portraits and faces captured over his 30-year career. Heinz Hosch assumes the title of “Legend” and is not only the first icon but the inspiration for which the entire collection was created.
