About
In this webinar Jeanette Spicer will discuss how self-portraits have been made since the beginning of photography, and while we see them more frequently, people have been interested in seeing themselves for hundreds of years. We often think of ‘self-portraits’ as an act one does alone, but we will learn how collaborative self-portraits can take on several meanings, and deepen one’s understanding of photography and making images.
Jeanette Spicer received her MFA from Parsons The New School in 2013 and has been awarded a number of residencies locally and internationally. Spicer’s first monograph, “Sea(see)” was published in 2018 by Kris Graves Projects. She has shown her work globally, and has had her photographs published in the New York Times, New York Magazine, New Yorker, and Dazed Magazine. Spicer has taught at a number of Art Institutions such as The School of Visual Art, The International Center of Photography and at Colleges such as Pratt, and The College of New Jersey.
