Laurie Freitag – Featured LACP Member, June 2020
My roots are in street photography & I shoot 95% with my cellphone. Some of the things I’m proud of is that I’ve been featured 7x on YourDailyPhotograph.com. I’ve also received honorable mentions 2x for the B&W Spider Awards & another honorable mention for PX3 Prix de la Photographie.
I was the featured speaker last year for Photographic Influencers, for Pasadena Photography Arts.
I was recently interviewed by Douglas Stockdale about my work and the latest curation I did for L.A. Photo Curator, ‘Life’s Work’.
I’m the Founder of L.A. & N.Y. Photo Curator. I started these businesses to promote photographers through our online competitions & to fund great causes (20% of all artist fees goes to 2 charities a month). I’m happy to say that almost $10,000 has gone to the following charities.
Doctors without borders, Three orphanages (Cambodia, Uganda and Haiti), Breast Cancer Research, The United Nations Refugee Agency, Dog/Cat rescue in Thailand, the Assistance League (helping needy families and children), Rising Star Music Fund (teaching music to special needs children), the Griffin Museum, the House Ear Institute, Children’s Institute (helping more than 28,000 children in Los Angeles deal with trauma), the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine, the Southern Poverty Law Center (fighting hate and bigotry), the ASPCA, the Ocean Conservancy, Friends of the L.A. River, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the Sacred Stone Camp Legal Defense Fund, Mercy Corps, Clean Water Action, the Winship Cancer Institute, the Nature Conservancy, the Sierra Club, Race to Erase MS, One-Voice (helping families battle poverty) and more.
I’ve been working on a series called ‘The Lost Years’ since 2012 which documents the years that most adults cannot remember before the age of seven years old. Working as a nanny I have intimate access to everyday life that makes up what appears as mundane moments but in fact these moments are stories that define a life. I became the witness to these stories and I took on the honor of documenter.
