About
In-Person Learning
In this intensive four day workshop held concurrently with Los Angeles Pride, students will be challenged to approach their image-making with an LGBTQ oriented theme in mind. Topics include but are not limited to: interior emotional content, upheaval and personal events, gender identity, politics, and desire — all as they relate to our queer lives. Richard will make suggestions and provide tools to help build a strong final body of work.
The class will be composed of assignments, photographing events around or related to LGBTQ Pride, critiques, slide presentations (of both renowned and lesser know photographic artists), a public lecture, discussions, individual meetings, and a visit from a renowned LGBTQ artist. Students are expected to develop a critical dialogue to support their work as well as develop and refine skills to engage in discussion with others.
This course is strictly limited to 15 students.
Richard Renaldi was born in Chicago in 1968. He received a BFA in photography from New York University in 1990. He is represented by Benrubi Gallery in New York and Robert Morat Galerie in Berlin. He was the recipient of a 2015 fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation.
