Join National Geographic Photojournalist and Veteran International Wedding Photographer, Laura Grier, for an inspiring class that will give you real life tips on all aspects of the Business of Wedding Photography. Having shot weddings on six continents, Laura will talk about how to brand yourself, market yourself to get the right clients and referrals for you, shoot to get published, and pitch yourself as a wedding photographer! Laura will share her on-the-fly techniques and composition tips and how she shoots and edits her signature vibrant style and portraits. You will not want to miss this intro class to Wedding Photography and you will definitely want to join her photography and travel workshops in the future!
Laura Grier has been called the Indiana Jones of Adventure Wedding and Travel Photography and is a recent addition to the Discovery Channel UK’s “20 Richest People in the World List”, people who are rich in life experiences that is. Living abroad from a young age, it is no surprise that Laura turned her life of travel, adventure, and exploration into a profession. As a photojournalist for the past 22 years, Laura has photographed on all 7 continents and has made a life out of exploring the world, capturing, and writing about her experiences.
With a dual degree from Syracuse University in both photojournalism and Fine Art photography, Laura has always blended the two genres to create a unique, vibrant, conceptual style that allows her work to stand alone. By age 18, Laura obtained top secret clearance with the Central Intelligence Agency working in their photo imaging department. She then went on to work in London for the rock and roll-themed magazine, Mixmag. Two years later she understudied with National Geographic photographer, Ed Kashi, in Florence Italy which launched her career with that magazine.
Since then, her photography has taken her to all 7 continents. Laura’s most notable work has been shooting for National Geographic’s artisan catalog that represents global artisans practicing “Vanishing Arts” around the world. She shoots all of their catalog work, trains their in-house photographers around the world, and shoots and films their “happiness” philanthropic projects. Laura also writes a regular travel column for the Huffington Post and Venuelust and teaches, mentors, and inspires other photographers through her travel workshops and expeditions. She has presented for brands like Canon, WPPI, Zenfolio, Samys Camera and CreativeLive.
Presently, Laura is a Los Angeles and Miami based Photojournalist, Travel Writer, and owner of both Beautiful Day Photography (specializing in Destination Weddings) and Laura Grier Travel, featuring her Fine Art Prints, travel workshops, and behind-the-scenes of her jet-setting around the world.
