Does the Earth Remember?

Ever since humans existed, we have manipulated the land for our use, and then try to claim it as our own.  In such a polarized time I have been reflecting on whose land it is anyway.  I asked this question when I encountered new and ancient energies on land that I moved to, and in so doing I thought about our place in all of time and how a greater understanding might be the key to ultimate peace.  How can the land tell us her stories and the things she has witnessed?

Does the Earth remember, and if so, how are the memories and associated energies released?  Do they stay encrusted or become the fabric of the land, seeping through the plants and the structures that we build atop her vaults? In “Does the Earth Remember?” I seek the answers to these questions, and a truth that lies right in front of me that in time and in pieces, my lens reveals.

I’m starting over in a new space, on ground that I share with native histories. Even though I hold the deed to this parcel, in my heart I know that I don’t really own it. The energy in these woods and meadows has welcomed me to borrow, steward, explore, and ultimately, become a part of the history of this land.

As I hike the forest, and work the soil, ancient through somewhat recent forces are revealing themselves, and I give thanks and ask forgiveness at once.
