Hybrid Learning (In-Person and Online)
Spend a dynamic day in the studio with award-winning photographer Ian Spanier in this hands-on course designed for photographers of all levels. The class begins with an in-person Saturday session (9 AM–5 PM), featuring a morning demo and instruction on effective model lighting using professional equipment. After a two hour lunch break (11 AM – 1 PM), students will rotate through multiple shooting bays to photograph live models with guided support, gaining valuable experience and images for their portfolios. All lighting gear is provided—just bring your camera and know how to use it. A follow-up online session the following Tuesday (6 PM–8 PM) will allow for image review, Q&A, and additional insights. No lighting experience is required.
Open exclusively to LACP members, this course is an exciting opportunity to sharpen your skills, build confidence working with models, and have fun doing it. Tuition is specially discounted $200 as a member benefit.
Born in Connecticut and raised in Westchester, New York, Ian Spanier has had a lifelong interest in photography — since age 6, to be specific, when his parents gave him his first camera: a Kodak Disc. For two decades after, Ian did everything he could not to become a photographer — yet he somehow always found himself with camera in hand, composing pictures and telling stories.
Ian is a Westcott “Top Pro,” as well as an ambassador for ThinkTank Photo, Spider Holster, Hoodman USA, CamRanger, ThinkTank Photo, Tether Tools, and Sekonic. He lives in Los Angeles, and is available for assignments in New York, California … and any place else that’s accessible by plane, train, car, horse, dune buggy, bungee cord, camel or mule. If it can be reached by legs, hooves, hooks, wheels or wings, it’s fair game for an Ian Spanier shoot.

- Dates: Saturday, November 15, 9 am – 5 pm (In-Person); Tuesday, November 18, 6 pm – 8 pm (Online)
- Enrollment limit: 12 students
- Skill/Experience Level: Students should have a working knowledge of their camera and are encouraged to bring a Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) or Mirrorless camera equipped with a hot shoe or sync connection.
