Cohort – Los Angeles, CA with Ibarionex Perello
Guided by celebrated photographer, educator, and storyteller Ibarionex Perello, the Los Angeles cohort will engage with the layered, sprawling, and ever-evolving fabric of L.A.—a city where countless cultures intersect and narratives unfold across vast geography. This cohort will focus on observing the subtleties of daily life in Southern California, from neighborhood micro-communities to the larger forces shaping the city’s identity. Through Perello’s nuanced approach to light, place, and personal vision, participants will contribute images that reflect the diverse realities of Los Angeles, expanding the Timeline archive with work rooted in empathy, curiosity, and deep engagement with the urban landscape.
The first meeting will be held via Zoom on Saturday, January 17, 6-8:30pm PST. It will be an introductory session, during which Ibarionex will discuss his work and the participants will share theirs. The group will then meet for an in-person photowalk on Saturday, January 24, time and location TBA. Subsequent sessions will be scheduled by Ibarionex and the group, to accommodate his travel schedule.
Ibarionex Perello is a photographer, writer, educator and host of The Candid Frame Photography podcast. He has over 25 years of experience in the photographic industry. In his role as host and producer of The Candid Frame, he provides frank, insightful interviews with some of the industry’s top established and emerging photographers. The popular show has featured guests including Jay Maisel, Mary Ellen Mark, Joel Meyerowitz, Pete Turner, Lynn Goldsmith and Gerd Ludwig and enjoys a following among photo enthusiasts from all over the world. The weekly program is consistently ranked among the top programs of its type.

- Dates: First session will be held via Zoom on Saturday, January 17, 6 pm -8:30 pm PST. The group will meet for a photowalk on Saturday, January 24, time and location TBA. Subsequent sessions will be scheduled by Ibarionex and the group, TBA.
- Skill/Experience Level: Students should have a working knowledge of their camera.
