About
In-Person Learning
In this fun and engaging week-long class, teens will unleash their creativity and discover the power of photography as a storytelling tool. Through hands-on projects, students will explore different themes and techniques, including light painting, forced perspective, and photo manipulation, while developing their own unique visual voice.
Each day, students will take on new challenges, capturing stories from their everyday lives, creating imaginative scenes, and experimenting with different styles of photography. They’ll also learn the basics of photo editing, enhancing their work with fun and easy-to-use apps. Collaboration will be key as students work together on group projects, learning how to communicate their ideas visually.
By the end of the week, students will have a collection of dynamic photographs to showcase in a mini exhibition, giving them a chance to share their creative journey with family and friends.
Ford Lowcock taught photography full-time for 23 years at Santa Monica College, where he is still teaching part-time. He fell in love with the iPhone camera when he started making 11×17” prints from its files. Ford has taught for Adobe Systems, because of his passion for mobile and Adobe products. Ford, not only will bring a wealth of knowledge and insight into this workshop, but also his passion for image making and photography in general, that is hopefully contagious. His fine art work has included extended projects on Barton Creek, Austin, Texas, Los Angeles River and The Klamath River in Northern California. Ford’s work has been collected by the Gernsheim Collection, Austin, Texas, Austin History Center, Citibank Corporation and numerous private collectors.
