Horizon: Industry-Focused Mentorships at LACP

Horizon – a new Industry-Focused Photography Mentorship Program at the Los Angeles Center of Photography – is an eight-month intensive, cohort-based experience designed to support emerging photography as students transition into professional, client-facing careers. Centered on mentorship, accountability, and real-world practice, the program offers three specialized tracks: Event & Wedding track, Headshot & Portraiture track, and Editorial & Entertainment track.

Each track is led by an established working professional and limited to no more than eight participants, ensuring individualized guidance and meaningful peer engagement. Over the course of the program, mentees develop polished, industry-ready portfolios while gaining hands-on experience with workflow, lighting, directing subjects, and navigating professional assignments.

The curriculum blends online learning with in-person sessions, assignments, critiques, and optional behind-the-scenes exposure to real shoots. Business fundamentals—such as pricing, licensing, client communication, branding, social media and marketing—are woven throughout, grounding creative growth in practical sustainability. Participants benefit from one-on-one mentor meetings, collaborative critique, and a final portfolio review or showcase designed to prepare them for the commercial marketplace.

Designed for photographers ready to deepen their practice and define their professional direction, the program connects creative ambition with mentorship, structure, and industry insight.

LACP Members receive tuition discounts. 
Become a MEMBER today for $140/year OR $15/month ($85/year for out-of-state residents; $75/year for students, educators, and veterans)

Included with Tuition:

• Two, two-hour online sessions per month
• One, three-hour in-person session per month @ LACP
• One private one-on-on session with instructor once every other month (approximately 20 minutes in duration)
• Final student portfolio showcase event @ LACP

Tuition/Deposit/Refund Policy:

• Member Rate, $3,600 OR $450 per month for eight months; Non-Member Rate, $4,000 OR $500 per month for eight months  – per each cohort.
• APA Los Angeles Members and APA San Diego Members: $3,600 OR $450 per month for eight month
• If choosing to pay monthly, the first payment due equates to a deposit.
• Seven monthly payments will be due after the initial deposit/first payment at the beginning of each month.
• Deposits are nonrefundable after April, 2026.
• If refunding before April, 2026, a $50 admin fee with be withheld.
• If choosing to pay in full, a $150 admin fee will be withheld.
• No refunds are permitted on or April 1, 2026. Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email to info@lacphoto.org.
