About

Hybrid Learning (In-Person and Online)

Join us for an immersive Meet-Up in LA class at El Matador State Beach, renowned for its stunning sea caves, dramatic rock formations, and picturesque coastal vistas. This iconic beach offers a unique blend of rugged natural beauty and tranquil ambiance, making it an ideal setting for visual storytelling. As you wander along the sandy shores and explore the intricate landscapes, you’ll have the opportunity to capture the dynamic interplay of light and shadow, as well as the vibrant colors of the ocean and sky.

Michael will detail and demonstrate important seashore photography techniques, including the use of Polarizing filters and Neutral Density filters, as well as long exposures and exposure blending/HDR. After our in-person exploration, we’ll gather online for a critique session, providing valuable insights to enhance your work. This class encourages photographers of all levels to develop their skills in composition and narrative. Experience the breathtaking allure of El Matador and unlock your creative potential in this captivating environment.

This engaging exploration of Los Angeles is part of LACP’s Meet-Up in LA series of classes, designed for visual storytellers of all levels. Each class includes an in-person excursion to a unique and vibrant area of the city, followed by an online Zoom session for critique and reflection on the work created. Students will develop their photography skills while capturing the eclectic essence of LA, with a focus on narrative and composition. Participants should be familiar with their cameras (digital cameras are strongly encouraged).

The location for this meet-up will be El Matador Beach.
