About

Join us online for an online lecture with Louie Palu on Saturday, December 9th, 10-11:30 am PST.

Special guest added! Dr Siobhan Angus author of Camera Geologica will be giving opening remarks and add to the conversation.

Mining and photography are inextricably intertwined, photography cannot exist without the mines, and we all digitally consume what they produce. Louie Palu’s unprecedented photographic record of one of the richest mining regions in the world feeds international commodity markets on which photography is dependent. Imagination and reality are constant themes in Louie’s images from the front-lines of the international photographic economy. Please join the Los Angeles Center of Photography and Louie Palu for a online lecture and a rare view of this groundbreaking work.

Louie Palu is a photographer and filmmaker whose work has examined social political issues for 30-years. His work has been selected for a Guggenheim Fellowship, Arnold Newman Prize and World Press Photo Award.
