About
This exhibition begins with Los Angeles and looks across urban spaces to observe how the natural world is discovered in the city, and how human nature engages with, resists, or embraces the natural world.
In a cityscape like Los Angeles, the natural world is interwoven with urban environments. The mountains, desert, beaches, canyons and valleys are inseparable from the dynamic of movement across neighborhoods and communities—and wildlife are always much closer than we might think. Residents of LA love their hikes and parks, and their identity is also a reflection of their specific relationship with nature—whether they live in the depth of the valleys or at a walking distance from the ocean. Synergy with nature is key to life in this region, and the local creative ecosystem is also shaped by the presence of nature, which seeps into all forms of expression.
