About
Photo zines are handmade, self-published books that are easy and inexpensive to create. Enjoy a fun and fast-paced tour of the zine universe while exploring how visual artists at all career levels are creating zines as original book art objects, new modes of storytelling, promotions for exhibitions, and engaging new audiences—while getting their work out into the world! Learn five simple steps to start making your own photo zine—from materials you already have at home. Each participant will receive an extensive, curated list of free zine resources!
Jeff Phillips is a photographic artist and educator living in Chicago. He is interested in unconventional ways of creating, sharing, and exhibiting photographs—including zine making, digital projection, public art, and immersive experiences. He serves as Board President for Filter Photo and has helped produce Filter Photo Festival for the last fifteen years. He is a lecturer at School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago. Jeff holds an MA in Photography and a BA in Technology from DePaul University. His work has been featured in more than 50 group and solo exhibitions.
