About
Online Learning
The photobook is one of the most powerful ways to give photographic work a lasting, cohesive form. In this six-session course, students will develop an existing body of work into a thoughtfully edited and sequenced book project.
The course begins with an introduction to contemporary photobook practices, including a presentation of books designed and published by the instructor. Through group discussion and short presentations, participants will begin to consider how their own work might translate into book form. Subsequent sessions combine group critique with individualized one-on-one meetings, focusing on editing, sequencing, and conceptual development.
Students will refine their projects through weekly assignments, exploring narrative structure, pacing, and material considerations while engaging in ongoing dialogue with peers. The final session is dedicated to presenting completed book concepts and receiving feedback, along with an introduction to pathways for self-publishing or working with established publishers.
By the end of the course, participants will create a developed photobook dummy and have a clearer understanding of how to bring their work into book form.
