About
All of us are now bombarded with imagery; daily, hourly, minute by minute. Much of it is instantly forgettable, but occasionally a photograph will make us stop and take notice. Very often, that is when we’re seeing the work of a photographer or a film maker whose vision is uniquely their own. Someone with a way of seeing that is immediately recognizable, personal, and goes deeper.
With over forty years of experience in magazine editorial, advertising, portraiture and fashion, photographer, director and teacher Andrew Southam leads a discussion about what it takes to further define and refining a vision that is all your own.
Topics include:
- The difference between looking and seeing. What makes your work your own?
- Vision exercises to consider what we care about photographing most.
- Discovering your own “story” through considering your life and experience.
- Some fundamental rules we can make for ourselves.
- Inspiration, preparation and research.
- The invaluable nature of shooting self-assigned projects.
- Turning projects into assignments.
- Some visionary photographers and film makers we can learn and be inspired by.
By the end of this webinar, you’ll have a clearer understanding of your unique perspective and the tools to begin honing your own singular vision, allowing you to transform the way you create and see the world around you.
