The Work
Remotely Close is a personal project created in 2020. It depicts the resiliency of a Black family in a time when we felt remotely close to destruction (COVID-19, 2020 Presidential Election and systemic racism) while also being remotely close to those we love. Confined at home during quarantine mandates, photographer Phylicia J. L. Munn installed decorative wall paper and had framed video chats with over 70 family members to capture the moment through her lens. The representation of Black joy and perseverance are central to this series.
