Melanie Chapman

Studio Manager

Melanie Chapman is a lens based artist living in Los Angeles. She is passionate about all aspects of photography and independent/experimental films.Melanie attended Bard College where she studied photography with Stephen Shore and filmmaking with Peter Hutton and Adolfas Mekas. She worked for Jonas Mekas during the re-opening of Anthology Film Archives in New York City before moving to Beijing and documenting the Tiananmen Square protests.

Melanie has worked in the LA Film Industry for a number of years and also enjoys assisting photographers workshops at Los Angeles Center of Photography.Her current projects include an ongoing series of portraits and documentary images focusing on Transgender activists in LA, and a documentary film about a group of expats who were confined to a prison camp in Manila during World War II.
