Fine Art, Creating Thinking, and Writing Certificate

About
This certificate will be mostly online, but some class are offered in-person.
The Fine Art, Creative Thinking, and Writing Certificate Program stirs creative thought and encourages students to closely examine the meaning or story behind their imagery. Students will discover their personal vision and work toward building a portfolio of work. Five classes are required to earn the certificate.
(NOTE: Beginning students should complete the General Course of Study certificate program first before enrolling in the Fine Art, Creative Thinking, and Writing certificate program.)
Required
Step 1. Complete any five classes listed below before proceeding to Step 2:
- The Art of Photography with Ken Merfeld (offered once per year, online only)
- The Daily Visual with Ken Merfeld (offered once per year, online only)
- Conceptual Photography with Ann Elliott Cutting (offered once per year, online only)
- Writing for Photography with Elin Spring & Susanne Revy (offered once per year, online only)
- From Memory to Story with Molly Wizenberg (offered once per year, online only)
- Creative Still Life with Kimberly Witham (offered once per year, online only)
- The Lyrical Photograph with Sal Taylor Kydd (offered once per year, online only)
- Writing Pictures with Joanne Dugan (offered once per year, online only)
- The Black and White Nude: Lighting Chiaroscuro with Ann Elliott Cutting (offered once per year, in-person only)
- An Alternate Vision with Gerald Slota (offered once per year, online only)
- The Provocative Photograph with Holly Lynton (offered once per year, online only)
- The Art of Collage with Sara Hadley (offered once per year, online only)
- Shooting with Intention with Aline Smithson (offered once per year, online only)
- Artist as Subject: Self-Portraiture with Jennifer McClure (offered once per year, online only)
- Contemporary Fine Art Photography with Susan Burnstine (offered once per year, online only)
- Poetry of Abstraction with Susan Burnstine (offered once per year, online only)
- The Wet Plate Collodion Workshop with Allan Barnes (offered twice per year, in-person only)
Step 2. Complete any one class listed below:
- The Next Step with Aline Smithson (offered once per year, online only)
- Portfolio Development Workshop with Susan Burnstine (offered once per semester, online only)
