About
Hybrid Learning (In-Person and Online)
Join us for an immersive exploration of The Getty Center, a treasure trove of art and history that offers inspiration at every corner.
The day will feature a guided exploration of The Getty’s photography exhibition, a great way to build inspiration, discuss composition, relevance, and photography as an historical record. From there and with Nancy’s guidance, students will leverage the incredible array of photo opportunities the Getty offers, from people to architecture to the breathtaking gardens. Whether you’re drawn to fine art or interested in the evolution of photography, the Getty provides a rich environment to inspire your own creative practice.
After the field session, join the online Zoom critique to reflect on your experience and the images you’ve captured, refining your approach to visual storytelling.
Optional Experience: For those eager to dive deeper, the Getty’s Department of Photography offers additional hours: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10:00am – 12:00pm or 2:00pm – 4:00pm. For any student interested, Nancy will help coordinate a date and time for a group visit.
This engaging exploration of Los Angeles is part of LACP’s Meet-Up in LA series of classes, designed for visual storytellers of all levels. Each class includes an in-person excursion to a unique and vibrant area of the city, followed by an online Zoom session for critique and reflection on the work created. Students will develop their photography skills while capturing the eclectic essence of LA, with a focus on narrative and composition. Participants should be familiar with their cameras (digital cameras are strongly encouraged).
The location for this meet-up will be Hollywood.
