About
Hybrid Learning (In-Person and Online)
Explore the multifaceted stories of the LA River in this immersive Meet-Up in LA class. Spanning over 50 miles, the river is a vital artery of Los Angeles, offering a unique blend of urban and natural landscapes. Participants will engage in an in-person exploration of the river’s diverse environments, from its lush greenways and revitalized parks to vibrant murals and the communities that thrive alongside it. Through hands-on photography activities, students will capture the dynamic relationship between nature and urban life, highlighting the river’s role as a habitat, recreational space, and cultural landmark. After the outing, an online Zoom session will provide an opportunity for critique and discussion, helping to refine your visual storytelling techniques. Join us in revealing the hidden gems and rich narratives that the LA River has to offer!
This engaging exploration of Los Angeles is part of LACP’s Meet-Up in LA series of classes, designed for visual storytellers of all levels. Each class includes an in-person excursion to a unique and vibrant area of the city, followed by an online Zoom session for critique and reflection on the work created. Students will develop their photography skills while capturing the eclectic essence of LA, with a focus on narrative and composition. Participants should be familiar with their cameras (digital cameras are strongly encouraged).
The location for this meet-up will be the LA River.
