About
Online Learning Class
This six-week online workshop that explores how photography can be used to investigate, interpret and construct meaning around place. Rather than approaching place simply as a subject to document, we will consider how our experiences and observations shape the way that we understand and photograph the world around us.
Throughout the workshop, we will contemplate ideas such as way-finding, place-making and mapping, along with the emotional geography of place. We will consider how photographs describe a location while also revealing our individual relationships to it. How do we navigate and understand a place with photography? What makes a collection of photographs feel connected to a particular place, experience, or way of seeing?
The workshop is designed for photographers of all levels and will combine weekly photographic assignments, thoughtful and supportive group critiques, and examples from contemporary and historical photographic practices. Assignments will encourage both observation and experimentation while helping participants develop a cohesive body of work.
This course is strictly limited to 12 students.
