Light Is the Subject: Photographing Los Angeles with Marissa Roth (Hybrid Learning – Two Sessions)
In this immersive hybrid workshop, acclaimed photographer Marissa Roth will lead participants into the streets of Downtown Los Angeles to explore the city through the lens of its extraordinary natural light. Beginning with a brief orientation at LACP, the group will head into the field for an afternoon of photographing as the quality, direction, and color of light continually shift toward dusk.
In this six-session introductory course, acclaimed photojournalist Marissa Roth will introduce students to the fundamentals of photojournalism and the art of visual storytelling. Through a combination of online discussions, in-person instruction, photographic assignments, and group critiques, participants will learn how to approach a story, identify meaningful moments, work thoughtfully with subjects, and create images that are both visually compelling and grounded in context.
